About BagBox

BagBox: The original Biotech Plastic Tote

Manufacturer of bioprocess containers

BagBox is a leading designer and manufacturer of Bioprocess Totes and Fluid Handling equipment. The company finds its origin over 15 years ago by a team of engineers and entrepreneurs with a passion for creating innovative solutions for the biopharmaceutical industry. The founders of BagBox / MegaFab recognized the need for a more efficient and cost-effective way to transport and store biopharmaceutical materials. Traditional steel tanks and glass bottles were heavy, difficult to clean, and prone to breakage, which made them unsuitable for many bioprocess applications.

plastic tote design & manufacture

To address this challenge, the BagBox / MegaFab team developed a range of plastic totes that are lightweight, durable, and easy to clean. These totes were specifically designed to meet the stringent requirements of the biopharmaceutical industry, including compatibility with a wide range of fluids and chemicals, and resistance to heat, pressure, and impact. Being the original designer and manufacturer of bioprocess plastic totes and solutions, our manufacturing site based in Kings Bromley (just outside Burton on Trent, UK), and our designers and plastic fabrication team have a long history to the origin of bioprocess plastic tote design & manufacture.

Bagbox Group, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), has revolutionized bioprocessing plastic totes for cleanroom and transport applications. Previously sold indirectly, we now offer a direct-to-market approach. Purchasing Bagbox products directly ensures top-notch service, tailored options, and financial efficiency. Leveraging our in-house design, engineering, and production capabilities, we manufacture and rebrand Bagbox totes and trolleys, catering to the biotech and pharma market's unique needs.

The early days

BagBox History 2008-2014

Over 15 years ago, Di-Tech Limited collaborated with a UK-based plastic tote manufacturer to create a custom solution for IBC totes in the Bioprocess industry. The goal was to replace traditional stainless-steel totes with a more versatile and efficient alternative using single-use bags for various biopharma fluids. Di-Tech's design team and fabricators modified the standard plastic tote, creating a single-use IBC storage solution. After the collaboration, the salesman established a new sales company, procuring standard totes from the manufacturer and collaborating with Di-Tech for modifications, selling the developed products to the market.

In 2015, after the owner of Di-Tech passed away, and their salesman acquired Di-Tech assets and expertise to continue their bio-pharma tote range. Facing challenges, the salesman sought assistance from an experienced business owner. Together, they formed Megafab Ltd in 2016, combining the expertise of the design and fabrication staff with new management. Megafab continued the legacy, becoming the sales outlet and manufacturer of the biopharma product range.

Specialized machinery and training of professional staff

Investment 2016-2018

Between 2016-2018, investments led to advanced manufacturing capabilities, producing smaller volume totes and larger containers. New equipment and training programs boosted production. The demand surge prompted expansion to a larger manufacturing site in the northwest, doubling the initial space in Burton on Trent. Megafab Ltd. focused on Biopharma tote production there, while the Burton facility specialized in units up to 500L and non-Bio-Pharma materials handling. Staff numbers increased, and innovative bioprocessing solutions were developed, ensuring continued growth.

Expanding our possibilities

Partnership split 2019-2020

In 2019, a partnership split occurred, leading Megafab Ltd's director to continue solo in the Northwest facility, while staff moved to the sales company. Despite promises, the director faced uncertainties. Megafab Ltd diversified into various industries, incorporating vacuum forming and advanced CNC router technologies. The business thrived, securing significant projects in the automotive and safety sectors. In 2020, the booming Bio-Pharma industry increased demand. The old sales company approached Megafab Ltd to handle orders due to overwhelming demand, a collaboration that lasted for 12 months.
