Bespoke & Custom Engineering for Biopharma Cleanrooms

From configured variants to fully bespoke builds. Bioprocess infrastructure engineered around your specific process.

BagBox engineers bespoke and customised bioprocess totes, trolleys and cleanroom carriers for pharmaceutical and biopharma manufacturers. Where the standard catalogue does not fit your SUT bag system, facility footprint or SOP, our engineering team designs the unit that does — from configured variants to fully bespoke builds, with approval-ready technical drawings delivered within weeks.

Why Biopharma Manufacturers Choose BagBox for Custom Builds

  • Engineering-Led Design

Every custom bioprocess tote or trolley starts with your process — your SUT bag specification, your tube routing, your cleanroom geometry. We engineer around your requirements, not around a standard template. The result is infrastructure that fits your validated workflow from day one.

  • Rapid Prototyping & Fast Delivery

From brief intake to approval-ready technical drawings in weeks, and cleanroom-ready prototypes shortly after. In-house CNC fabrication at our Kings Bromley facility means faster iteration, shorter lead times, and no dependency on third-party manufacturers.

  • Vendor-Agnostic by Design

BagBox custom carriers are compatible with SUT bag systems from all major suppliers — Sartorius, Cytiva, Merck and others. Your bespoke unit fits the bags you use today and continues to fit if you change supplier. No proprietary lock-in, no revalidation when your bag vendor changes.

Three Routes to a Custom Solution

Most biopharma facilities do not run on a standard catalogue. Bag formats, SOPs, port configurations, tube routes and cleanroom footprints are all specific to the site. BagBox offers three deliberate tiers of customisation, each with a defined process and lead time, so you can pick the level of engineering involvement that matches your project.

    Configured Standard

Best for: facilities that need a known BagBox product but with site-specific options.

Take a product from the BagBox catalogue and configure it to your facility. Adjust height, castor specification, port positions, Smart Door configuration, branding and colour. The engineering review is light, the lead time is short, and the unit ships against the standard production cycle. Every configuration option is documented and repeatable, so your fleet stays standardised as it grows.

    Customised Variant

Best for: Facilities whose process is best served by standard BagBox products with targeted modifications.

Modify an existing BagBox tote, transport tote, drum or trolley to fit a specific bag system, SOP or facility constraint. Dimensional changes, structural reinforcement, additional access points, integrated branding, custom drainage - all are available. The engineering team reviews your drawings, agrees the modification with you, and produces an approval-ready technical drawing before fabrication begins.

    Fully Bespoke Build

Best for: Facilities where the process advantage of a purpose-built carrier justifies a dedicated engineering programme.

Engineered from a clean sheet to your specific brief. Includes design consultation, CAD, prototype, validation documentation and serialised identification. Built around your SUT bag specification, your tube routing, your operator ergonomics, and your cleanroom geometry. Every decision is made against your process, not against a catalogue - and the result is a unit no competitor can replicate.

How a Bespoke Project Runs

Every bespoke and customised project follows the same structured path:
  • Brief Intake

You share your drawings, bag specification, process step and target lead time. The more detail you can provide up front, the faster the engineering team can move. A dedicated intake form ensures the right information reaches the right people without delay.

  • Engineering review

Our engineers assess feasibility against your specific SUT bag system, facility geometry and SOP requirements. We confirm the approach, flag any constraints, and propose the customisation tier that best fits your brief and timeline.

  • Approval-ready drawing.

A full CAD-based technical drawing is produced and shared with your team for sign-off before any fabrication begins. This step protects your process and gives your validation and procurement teams the documentation they need from day one.

  • Cleanroom-ready prototype

Where applicable, a physical prototype is built and shipped for on-floor validation, typically within weeks of drawing approval. Your team tests fit, tube routing, drainage and ergonomics under real operating conditions before committing to full production.

  • Production and delivery

Approved units are fabricated at our Kings Bromley facility using in-house CNC machining and assembly. Working with thermoplastic rather than stainless steel means shorter lead times, faster iteration, and a production process that scales cleanly from single units to fleet deployments.

  • Documentation and Delivery

Every unit ships with serialised identification, technical drawings, bill of materials, and care and cleaning guidance. We support inputs for IQ and OQ, change control and audit readiness, with delivery across Europe and North America and ongoing lifecycle support available post-deployment.

Engineering in Action

The most effective demonstration of what bespoke engineering delivers is a project that has already run. We are currently preparing a detailed case study of a recently completed fully bespoke biopharma trolley; a project where standard catalogue options were evaluated and set aside in favour of a purpose-engineered solution built around a specific SUT bag system, tube-routing constraint, and cleanroom ergonomics brief.

Why BagBox for Custom Engineering

Three things that only Bagbox offers:

  • Category Heritage We are the original innovators of the thermoplastic bioprocess tote; the depth of engineering experience built into every decision is not available elsewhere.
  • Vendor-Agnostic by Design We build to your bag specification, regardless of supplier. Your custom unit fits the bags you use today and continues to fit if you change supplier later.
  • Dedicated Engineering Owner Bespoke enquiries route directly to our engineering team, not a generic sales inbox. You speak to the people who will build the unit.
